HAWAII YOGI ECO INSPIRATION

HAWAII YOGI ECO INSPIRATION - Yogi Peace Club

After working 24/7 for the past three years I needed to take a break from Yogi Peace Club to spend some much needed time with my family. Life can be busy and sometimes its hard to know when to take a break, especially when you run your own business. But I knew I needed to reconnect with the feeling of freedom, escapism and be with my beautiful family. Although I connect each day on the mat to my practice, I knew that I needed to step off the mat and onto the beach.

As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a big ALOHA, these words were music to my ears. Seeing the swaying palm trees, fresh pineapples and tropical beaches was so humbling.

Driving up the North Shore past the famous beaches Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Pipeline towards Turtle Bay was surreal. After so many years of watching the surf contests on TV to finally see these beautiful beaches was extraordinary.

Food in Hawaii is a highlight. The poke bowls, fresh fruit, smoothies and Acai were the staples. The food trucks at Haleiwa were delicious along with Island Vintage Coffee which was great spot for breakfast. Sunrise Shack was gorgeous for almond milk cold brew coffee and Papaya Bowls.

Swimming with the turtles and connecting to nature filled my heart with gratitude and a love of this earth. I decided at that moment I need to do more the planet. So as soon as I got home I contacted Clean Coast Collective in Byron Bay, a not for profit organisation that spreads the message of ocean pollution and how damaging plastic waste is to the ocean.

The team at Clean Coast Collective started because they were blown away by the amount of plastics in our oceans and on our beaches. Their intention is to create a consumer movement that is more mindful in avoiding plastics, and stopping the flow of plastics into our oceans. They take part in Trash Tribe expeditions where they clean up Australia’s most polluted beaches.

I am donating $2 from every sale of every yoga mat to Clean Coast Collective starting from October 1 2017. Although my mats are PVC free and free of toxic chemicals I need to do more for our planet. This holiday to Hawaii not only inspired the new designs for summer with a tropical yogi twist, it gave me some clarity on whats important to me and why I started Yogi Peace Club - my family, yoga and the planet.
