Wandering with Whalesong

Wandering with Whalesong - Yogi Peace Club

The sheer beauty of Tasmania's East Coast was key inspiration behind the YPC Wanderer collection.

From the red earthy rocks of Binalong Bay - near the Bay of Fires, to the lush green hills of Derby, I was completely enchanted by the East Coast of Tasmania.

Earlier this year I journeyed to Tasmania, with a desire to design a collection of yoga pieces that would reflect Australia's abundant beauty. Whilst I was there my family joined in. We spent time cooking and eating with lovely locals and learning about their travel tips for the East coast of Tasmania.

We spent many moments connecting with nature, discovering the hidden gems that surround the pristine beaches of Whalesong Falmouth and practising yoga along the decks of Whalesong. We caught up with owner and operator Ingrid Daniels and discussed her fav travel tips for touring the East Coast of Tasmania. We were grateful for her guidance, exploring many of the places that Ingrid recommended.

Ingrid from Whalesong's Five top Travel Tips

Falmouth Lagoon Swims in the Fresh cold Tasmanian waters
Yoga on the deck
Sitting by the fire
Cooking fresh seafood
Soaking in the outdoor bath
Frolicking for Shells
Coffee and a Toastie at Swims

Practising yoga on the sunkissed decks of Whalesong, gifted us the opportunity to restore and renew. The sounds of the ocean, gently guiding us to reconnect back to Self. After a beautiful flow we sat with Ing and she gave us an insight into the East Coast of Tasmania.

Our Yogi Peace Club Mats are available to use if you are a guest at Whalesong.

The Whalesong doorstep, opens to the Crystal clear Tasman Sea. There is a hidden path at the south end of the Whalesong garden down to the Shelly beach. The Shells are incredible, abundant with rich colour and texture.

Ing's Fav Cafe near Whalesong is at Swims Scamander. They have the best coffee only 10 mins north of Falmouth. They also do the best toasties!

From Whalesong, we headed north to Binalong Bay to explore the Bay of Fires, approximately 40 mins north of Falmouth. The rusty tones of the rocks and deep hues of the ocean were key inspiration behind the Wanderer collection.

The oysters by the road side were so fresh and delicious! The the perfect stop before heading inland to Derby.

Arriving inland to Derby we had to stop at the Floating Sauna. An incredibly invigorating experience, diving into the freezing temperature of the Derby Lake and then returning to hot coals. Make sure you book as this is not to be missed.

Upon returning home to Bells Beach, I sat down with the YPC designers and created a Tassie Wanderer vision board with reference to the amazing places we had visited, along with a wish list of new styles to create. This became our latest capsule, the Wanderer Collection.
